Two drawbacks to dropbacks:
1) Many ankles can’t dorsiflex enough to drop back smoothly and
2) Many hips externally rotate too much, putting shearing forces on the ACL.
Here’s one solution that looks like it’d be terrible for your knees and ankles, but on me it feels outstanding: from horse stance, tilt pelvis anteriorly and extend thoracic spine to engage the muscles along your spine. Keep that and rock onto medial arches of your feet while medially rotating and adducting femurs. Now move pelvis forward in space and drop backwards with control.
Practice as many reps with depth, control, and pauses at the end range as you can without pain or breakdown of technique.

Like the world was a puzzle looking for a particular piece.
My entry for Day 1 of #EatPlaYoga#yogachallenge
Upward Facing Dog
In my experience with this #backbends , I find that it really helps my shoulders open up . At first, I found it difficult as my shoulders always appeared rounded. But I learned that when the palms are directly under the shoulders in knee-and-chest-down chaturanga , my chest opens better, especially when my lower body isn't so tensed .
Thanks Jane for the photo 😙
