First time trying ex-chateau. Couldn't believe how stellar the condition of wine was. It was re-corked in 2002? Not entirely sure now. But Even Somm at Otto Mezzo was surprised of the condition. Quite muted at the beginning with heavvvy mouthfeel. Air breathed and opened up at the end.
Selosse to me came like a BDN. Heavy mouthfeel as well but well refined with oxidation notes. I have always been trusting Selosse. But Somm here taught me that with the price point of Selosse, there are way too many alternatives with lower price with somewhat equivalent satisfaction. I utterly agree with that. As I am totally inexperienced yet, I think I can be happy with less costy Champagnes. But I would still look up for Selosse....
Clerico does modern wine making these days but this bottle was done in ole barolo fashion. Not in 225L barrel but 450?? I think. Majestic wine. And this is my hand down favorite pasta place in entire Asia. Yes, must do Barolo!
And I finished up with a bottle of beautiful Quintarelli. Almost for free!! Wondrous of the reason? Look up their corkage policy. It might look absurd but it really is not at all.
